Mary Cunningham Neumann, Artistic Director, now in her seventh season as Artistic Director of the Halalisa Singers, leads the ensemble in reaching out to wider audiences and performing an ever-widening repertoire. Following her vision to share their music in the Boston area, Halalisa has now appeared with the Lexington Symphony, Revels’ RiverSing in Cambridge, at the Museum of Fine Arts, as well as concerts in the communities of Wellesley, Littleton, Harvard, Acton, Bedford, and Melrose. With their special sound and mission, the Halalisa Singers have been sought after to perform benefit concerts including this spring for the Winchester Multicultural Network and the Refugee Immigration Ministry of the North Shore and previously at the Martin Luther King Community Event in Hingham, “The South Shore Has A Dream”, the Annual Lexington Special Needs Arts Fund at the Follen Church, and the Hanover Diversity Celebration in November.
Ms. Neumann earned her Masters in Music at the Cleveland Institute of Music after degree training at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. She is well known in the Boston area as an active conductor, vocalist, and flute soloist. She is the Music Director at the Melrose Unitarian Universalist Church, is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, the UU Musicians Network, and is President of the Lexington Music Club. She is a member of the Revels Repertory Company, is on the faculty of the Powers Music School in Belmont, and has a private teaching studio in her Lexington home.
